My Renogy 40A MPPT charge controller says it needs to be attached to the bat before solar panels to avoid damage.

What if you lose bat power due to a breaker, fuse, or BMS cutoff?

Do I need to protect the thing with an SSR or mechanical relay to cut solar off when battery is lost?

I tried reaching out to Renogy. I got some partial English response that didn't really answer the question.

What does everyone else do?
