People with diabetes and other chronic diseases often use complementary and alternative medicines. The review examines the efficacy and safety of the use of various Diabetes Ayurvedic Treatment for diabetic melitus. We got seven tests involving 354 participants (172 on treatment, 158 on control, 24 could not be classified). All these studies included adults with type 2 diabetes melitus. Six studies tested five different types of herbal mixtures (proprietary drugs) and only one tested the 'entire system' Ayurvedic treatment. The duration of treatment was three to six months. A study of each of the Diabecon, Inolter and Cogent DB (proprietary herbal mixture) found significantly lower levels of glycosilated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1C) at the end of the treatment period than control. Two studies of diabecon, and a study by Cogent DB (Proprietary Herbal Mixture), found a significant decrease in fasting blood sugar levels at the end of the study period in the treatment group. These tests did not see any deaths and the side effects between intervention and control groups did not vary significantly. A study of the pancreas tonic did not reveal any significant changes in the quality of life related to health. No study was reported or designed to check for diabetes complications, deaths from any cause and cost. Despite positive results in some studies and absence of serious side effects, firm conclusions cannot be drawn due to weak methods and low number of participants in the assessed studies. More research is required to assess the efficacy of these treatments. Ayurvedic doctors usually use a mixture of various herbs or proprietary preparations along with diet, exercise and way of living. Treatments are usually personalized keeping in mind the balance of three 'defects'. It is possible that interference in the tests analysed has not repeated the actual Ayurvedic practice but only evaluated some components individually. Official Website: https://bit.ly/3dxXQo4
